Is it just me or has anyone else been seeing an abnormally high failure rate on TXV's lately? 4 last week and 2 already this week - Trane, Lennox and Goodman. Hell that's more than the past 7 years combined - not counting the idiots that crank on the stems like a water spigot in walk-in apps.

Most I've heard of were the Parker also.

Mad Parker sucks, hopefully they don't ruin Sporlan.

I haven't seen any yet this year, had quite a few last year though.

..most of what I see is 10 SEER fixed...all the stuff I've sold (Trane/Rheem) with TXV's have not as yet had any TXV failures (except for the one I installed in my house...original was bad at start up, second lasted less than a year)...you think sloppy install practices may be part of the problem?

Mr. Green No, I think Parker's the problem.

We had a run of bad ones about 2 weeks ago. My dispatcher said, "If ya'll bring me one more bad TXV diagnosis I'm gonna shoot ya'll!" That cut down on the bad TXVs real quick! Icon_twoguns

But ya, seems like more than usual...

Had a Trane unit yesterday. My serviceman changed it out. Have another in a Amana. Hope this isn't a rash of valves. These are fairly new air handlers. beaner
